At the end of 2000 the British Museum unveiled its glass-domed Great Court, designed by Sir Norman Foster, to great acclaim - reviving the museum for the 21st century. The Great Court with its newly renovated, world famous Reading Room at the core is now filled with sculpture from around the world. This space has been hidden from public view since 1857, but now open, it provides entry into all the surrounding parts of the museum.
